College Scholarships

The Scholarship Committee at St. Matthew Lutheran Church is accepting applications for college scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year. ALL COMPLETED APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE RECEIVED IN THE CHURCH OFFICE BY June 4, 2023. Applications can be mailed to the church office at 800 N. New Road, Waco, TX 76710. Any questions can be directed to the Chair of the Scholarship Committee at hcotner@cord.org.

 

Eligibility Requirements for St. Matthew Scholarship Funds1

  1. To be eligible, all applicants must be anticipating enrolling (or currently enrolled) in an accredited postsecondary institution2 of higher learning as defined by the U.S. Department of Education.
  2. To be eligible for continued support, a student must be enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution (see #1) and be in good standing.3 Students in good standing can reapply on an annual basis as long as they are making progress toward their chosen degree.
  3. Preference will be given to students who are current members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church or whose family currently belongs to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Waco.4
  4. A maximum of two applications can be submitted in a given application period from the same family unit (same surname).
  5. Applications and transcripts must be received by June 4th 2022.

4 According to the Endowed Academic Scholarship Agreement between the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest and St. Matthew Lutheran, it states the committee is to: “Select qualified recipients of high moral character of Lutheran faith with first preference to those who are members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church…”
